Seek first the Kingdom of God

Haggai 1. God had no problem with the people enjoying prosperity. His problem was with their failure to use their wealth to rebuild the temple. The people find themselves in a situation where they begin to "Sow much and reap little" as God gets their attention. The problem arises when we focus so much on self that the Kingdom of God is neglected.

For God’s Sake! Utterly Destroy Your Enemy!

God instructs Saul to go into battle against the Amalekites, and to utterly destroy them and all they have. Saul goes into battle, but chooses to spare the life of Agag their king and the best of the sheep, oxen, fatlings, lambs, and all that was good.

Hell No! He Must Go!

1 Kings 20.

Ben-Hadad, king of Syria, aligns himself with 32 other kings and goes to war against Israel. The odds stacked against the people of God are awesome: we know that by the end of the second battle 127,000 of Ben-Hadad’s men had been slain, which means that he had at least that many to begin with. The book of John refers specifically to two miracles in Cana of Galilee: in fact the first miracle that Jesus performed in Galilee was when He cleansed a man of an evil spirit. The will and purpose of God for humanity is first and foremost that all men be cleansed and delivered of demonic oppression.
